In the past Outlook.com supported to add additional mailboxes. I added many additional accounts like mails from uni etc. This feature isn't supported anymore, the workaround is adding these accounts as a separate mailbox within the new Outlook app. That works fine in theory; but there is one problem: The old feature of setting up additional accounts still seems to work under the hood, even though these settings are not accessible anymore. In practice that means: I still receive emails from the added accounts, but they arrive in my main Outlook inbox, they won't appear in the newly added inbox. Is there any way to remove the old connection since these settings do not appear anymore OR will the old feature stop working anytime soon, so emails will arrive in the newly added mailbox as they should; if so is there a timeline already? Configuring preferences and options in Outlook.com Locked Question. This question was migrated from the Microsoft Support Community. You can vote on whether it's helpful, but you can't add comments or replies or follow the question. Glad to hear that. So it's not a problem with Outlook. Just like you said, you can check your rules from your web mail and delete or disable them, there may be some forwarding rules that you may not notice before. Also, please kindly view your private messages, you can view it by going to your community profiles and click "view private message", thank you for your cooperation. :) Schale.P-MSFT | Microsoft Community Support Specialist 3 additional answers Anonymous 2024-09-29T12:08:39+00:00 This is quite embarrassing but I solved the issue. Especially the fact, that changing the password did not help, lead me to recheck the third-party mail server and mailboxes another time. Even though there was no forwarding set up in the admin area of my mail server, there were actually forwarding rules set up in every single mail account when accessing them through the Webmail UI, hidden under "filter". I deleted those ones and now everything is working as it should be; so it actually wasn't an issue of the new Outlook. Thanks for your help anyway! :) 0 comments No comments This is quite embarrassing but I solved the issue. I tested a few more things: I checked if there is any kind of forwarding set up on the third party mail server, but there isn't. I thought it might be a solution to change the password of the third party mail address, since it should break the old connection - but still; emails from that address still arrive in the main Outlook inbox (which makes it hard to answer on these mails as the sender will be @outlook.com, and if I change the sender address in the 'new mail' window manually, it will open up an empty mail form - so I would have to copy and paste the incoming mail I want to answer on.) Changing the password didn't help ; but it should be impossible for the old connection to still work; shouldn't it? That made me think, maybe its not the old connection that'd causing the issue, but an old forwarding rule ? In the past (with the old connection) I had the choice to receive these mails either in a new inbox folder or in the main inbox; I chose main inbox. That would explain, why emails still arrive through the newly set up mail inbox in Outlook, but still arrive in the main inbox. On the new Outlook UI I didn't set up any filters or rules; so this potential rule that might be the reason is not accessible for me. (Btw; it was a POP connection in the past, that's why the third party mail inbox is empty when accessing it through the webmail server; they'll only stay in Outlook). Unfortunately your solution (using filters / rules) seemed promising, but doesn't work out . The problem is, that the newly set up mailboxes within Outlook are kept as separate mailboxes with their own folder structure. When I set up a rule, I can only move these mails within a folder of the Outlook mailbox but not to the inbox of another mailbox within Outlook. I tried to describe the current status as detailed as possible to find the possible cause of this behavior and for other users having the same issue. I really hope we will find a solution for this since I don't want to change to another mail client. (Sidenote: Mailboxes that have never been added to the old Outlook.com before are working perfectly fine as expected, when adding them to the new Outlook. However, creating new mail addresses or renaming the ones that I was using before is not a feasible solution for me.) 0 comments No comments

Anonymous 2024-09-29T09:13:32+00:00 Hi KevinFinck Thank you for raising your concern in Microsoft community. Unfortunately, there's no documented way to directly remove the old, legacy connections for added mailboxes in Outlook.com because Microsoft removed the interface for managing them. The settings are effectively "orphaned". Microsoft does not provide a tool to delete these hidden connections. There's no official timeline for Microsoft to automatically disable or remove these legacy connections. They may eventually break on their own due to system updates or changes to the underlying infrastructure, but this is unpredictable and could happen at any time (or maybe never). Relying on it to happen is not a reliable solution. In the meantime, you can create rules in Outlook (both on the web and in the application) to automatically filter mail from your legacy connected accounts and move it to the appropriate new mailbox folders. This is not a perfect solution because it relies on the legacy connections to continue to work, but it will at least organize your inbox. I know this may not solve your problem immediately, but I need to know more about your situation so I can help you better, please understand. If you've found something else worth noting, please contact me and tell me about it, I'd love to solve the problem with you, thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
